d16y8 no start then start need help
d16y8 at first had a 3/10 chances of starting. the 7 times out of the 10 it would crank start stop. the 3 / 10 times it would start and stay on. changed the dizzy and it started and stayed on but customer came back saying it still stalled out. I put the old dizzy back on and it started and is still on. what else could be happening?

When it won't start, do you get check engine lights?
Could be ignition switch. Try starting it and wiggling the key a little to see if it will stall.
Could be loose ground - thinking maybe the thermostat ground.

I thought it could be the ignition swith after first because I felt like if I held the ignition aka starter on a 1/2 second longer than needed it would stay on. ill check the thermostat ground right now.

When you turn the key to the on position, listen for the fuel pump to prime. Common problem with out beloved Honda's is that the fuel pump relay goes bad, in which it will just keep cranking and won't start, or will just die out intermittently while running/driving. Not sure if it will solve your problem or not, but it's definitely worth looking in to.

Should be right underneath the dash near the hood release lever. Held on by one 10mm bolt I believe. It's almost as if they forseen to problem and made it easy to swap. lol

no it was behind the glove box. I swapped it and put the new dizzy back in. cranked it and it started it stayed on until I moved the car and turned it off. then it would not start again. I even stuck propane down into the intake and it still didn't start up again.

im on luch now. I wasn't the one who put the new dizzy back in this time so please tell me it only goes in one way. because if its in backwards then its 180 degrees off. witch I don't think because it started up fine the *second time. the first turn of the key with the new dizzy and new pump relay it didn't start.

I'm not sure why you seem to keep dodging the Check Engine Light question.
When it's not starting, just take a look at the dash and see if the check engine light is staying on when you have the key in the ON position.
The relay you should have looked for is the main relay.
However, it's EASY to note if it's working or not.
If you turn the key to ON (not start). The CEL should light up and you should hear the fuel pump prime for about 3 seconds.
If you can't hear that, then likely it's a good chance that the main relay is the culprit.
It is located under the driver side dash as c-brooker described.
The problem is the soldering from Honda. They are done poorly and are called 'cold' solder joints.
If you open up the relay, you can reflow the solder with a soldering iron and fix the problem. No need to get a new one.
In addition to all the possible problems so far, the ignitor (Ignition Control Module) in the distributor can also give problems that you describe. I'm nt sure where you got the 'new' distributor, but if it's using the old ignitor or if you got a junk yard part, then this is a possibility.

it primes, no cel and no codes. I swapped out the coolant temp sensor. it started first try. died after 5 minutes. then didn't start, didn't start, started 30 seconds died, started 30 seconds died, started after 5 minutes died. and on this 1999 ex alldata said it was behind the glove box and it was. the plug and unit were the same.

Re: d16y8 no start then start need help
it came back and then didn't want to start again. I read to check dash fuses 31 and 13 they looked ok but I replaced them any way. it also said to check hood fuse 44 idk which one that it so I check them all and they all looked ok but can some one specify which fuse is #44. in the car the fuses only go up to I think it was 33 and fuses under the hood aren't numbered.
