Need help!!! car won't start in heat
alright.....today when i got back from playing golf, i tried to start my car, and it wouldn't start......it was turning, but it wasn't starting. After about 3 or 4 times of turning the key, i pumped the gas one time and tried to start it again, and bam it started up but it started off idleing at like 3500. This is the second time this has happened, and both days that it happened it was hot as **** and very humid. I don't think it can be the battery or the starter, or can it be? Can anyone please help me with this problem....i don't know what to do.......thanks in adv.

No offense, but there have been a million threads about starting problems and them being heat related lately. Try searching first......
First- do all of your accesories (radio, lights, etc) work? When you turn the key to on position do you hear the fuel pump whine for 2-3 seconds and then the check engine light disappears? If no whine, you may want to look into a Main Fuel Relay, which has been discussed with its symptoms in several topics. If you do have fuel pressure try checking for spark to determine if its ignition related. Good luck, do some searching....

Hondas main fuel relays have shitty solders on the ends of the relay.... they go bad with heat etc.... still don't understand what you just said though

If its starting fine now, you may not be able to determine the problem since it seems to be intermittent with the high heat. Wait until a day when it won't start, then listen for the relay and test for spark. You could also test for spark now and make sure you're ignition is functioning properly.

If you are sure that the main relay is working then you will have to move onto the ingnition. check for spark. check you plugs. pull off dist. cap and make sure there is no moisture.

main Relay
Switch out or fix main relay, which is most likely the source of the problem. If you don't want to do that, next time it happens to you, bang on the lower part of the dash where the fuses are. This usually does the trick (no kidding).

If it doesn't work, hit it harder.

Sounds funny but does work. It was suggested to me by some Honda Mechanic friend if I didn't feel like switching it out.

Re: Need help!!! car won't start in heat (redwinqs)
From the symptoms you are describing, I would tend to agree with some of the other guys who had already mentioned it, it IS your main relay.
When the car doesn't want to start, listen for the fuel pump to prime, if it doesn't then it is your main relay. The problem, I'm sure is only intermitent, so keep a close ear/eye on the problem.
