Transmission Noises?
Its a 93 Coupe Si.
Its all bone stock, never abused. Its my friends latley the tranny has been making a grinding noise. It changes with engine RPM, and goes away when you push on the clutch. Also its more violent under harder acceleration.
Any idea's what it is? Throw-out bearing?

I've never heard a throwout bearing grind, only squeak and generally annoy the **** out of you. Was it squeaking for some time before this?
My guess would be if it gets worse under hard acceleration that it's the input shaft bearing on the transmission. That bearing would experience higher load when accelerating, while the throwout bearing doesn't do anything unless you have the clutch pedal depressed.
Like the throwout bearing you have to drop the transmission to change the ISB, but you can swap it without taking the transmission apart.
But YMMV. Good luck.

throwout (clutch release) bearing is only noisy with clutch depressed, doesnt do anything when clutch pedal is up, or shouldnt anyway
Sounds like ISB as xtreme said, usually worse in 1/2nd at load, and when getting really baddle rattles in neutral too. Its a box off and open to fix, loads of info on hear on it
