Default b18c no vtec pressure switch ???? about ground

You need an oil pressure switch on there. One wire goes to D6 and the other is grounded. If you dont have that switch no vtec.

well how come ive read on here some people bypass that on the jdm itr motors but they dont give a throughly expilation of it

Can you post a link where you read this? The oil pressure sensor needs to be grounded, i believe thats what you read. There is bypasses in some engine management systems but its better just to fix the problem.

I assume you received a JDM ecu with your JDM swap. So just run that.. that's what I'm doing. I too was kind of baffled when I got to that and noticed that it wasn't there. JDM B18C-GSR with a JDM P72.. no codes.

depending year and motor some jdm swaps dont have it, run the ecu that came with the swap and youll be fine.

How about a little more info, what year and make car is this going into, whick ECU you are using? Are they both obd1 or obd2?
Like EKcivicEX said, use the Ecu that came with the engine.
When do you get the code 22? i.e. when the key is turned on, or after the vtec kicks in at 6k rpm.
My jdm b18c had a vtec solonoid but no pressure switch, I just used the p73 ecu that came with the engine, apparently it does not look for the pressure switch.
Another option, (i have been told), is to get a "chipped" ECU.

ok guys ive got a 92 civic cx im putting a 97 ITR motor in it they sent me a p30 jdm b16a computer where i wouldnt have to buy the itr jumper harness from obd1 to obd2 and there isnt a pressure switch on the vtec solenoid ive ask what exactly should i do and i figured the about the best thing i could do is to put a pressure switch in it or just switch out the whole solenoid to one with a pressure switch and just wire it in so i just need your opinion of things and ive read that i could ground it the vtec pressure switch and it would take the code away ive read that guys with pressure switches that are bad they could ground or something and it will take the code away without buying a new pressure switch so lemme know what you think guys

you do not need to install a vtec pressure switch, some jdm motors do not have the switch and depending on what ecu you are usuing it will look for the switch, realise its not there and throw code 22 which does not allow you to enguage vtec' and throws the ecu into a safe/limp mode, code 22 for those whom have a vtec pressure switch indicates low oil/pressure

i had the same issue with my 00 jdm itr swap, all you have to do is ground the vtec pressure switch, reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery and your good to go'

another way is depending on what fuel management you are running you can disable the code through something like hondata, you can ground the wire under the hood or by the ecu...dosnt make any difference, i had mine under the hood but got tired of looking at it so i relocated the grounding locaiton to the ecu mounting bolt'

i believe the pin out for the vtec pressure switch wire is (D6)

ive tried that d5 pinout to a ground and it didnt work i reset the ecu and everything i ran it all the way to the tranny to get a better ground 2 see if i could get it to go away but it didnt work im thinkin about just going to acura and buying a pressure switch and drilling it and tapping it myself and then wiring it so lemme know what you think or whatever or i just thought about buying a used solenoid but i know vtec on jdm motors is extremely loud when it engages and i was wondering if i got a usdm type r or gsr would it be as loud????

its d6 not d5'

you dont need to run it to the tranny bolt, you can ground it anywhere

you probably didnt ground the right wire

and yes, you can hear a change in motor tone when vtec enguages, adding a vtec pressure switch is alot more hassle then its worth and you"ll probably end up with more issues, just ground the right wire and call it a day'

just tap the vtec pressure switch wire on your wiring harness under the engine bay with a t-tap and make a ground terminal at the end, and ground it...reset ecu...bam fixed..a whole 3 minute process and cost like 20 cents for wiring and ground ring

ok i didnt do it like that so i just go to the harness t tap it where the vtec PS is at i think the wire is orange and blue so i just ground one end of the wire to the battery and the one part of the t is hooked to the harness and the other end runs to d6 right??? then all i just reset the ecu and this will take it away
