ignition switch problem

Default ignition switch problem

i turned off the car after the tranny was messing up to let it cool down took the key out of the ignition put it back in after about 30 mins of waiting and the key doesn't turn happened to anyone?

well i have an automatic trans and if you left it in drive or reverse the key will won't turn.

so how do i get it to turn i have the out of the ignition and the car is in park now?

nope and the steering wheel isn't locked?

hmmm no idea then. ive had problems with it not turning all the way in both my em2 (5speed) and my moms crv(automatic) but not like ur describing. sorry im not more help

well i took off the back part of the ignition switch put the key to the on position and the thinks that its still in drive any solution to this

Doesn't sound good that's for sure... I'll take a stab at the dark at this one... maybe something is wrong with the tranny, or the sensor/ linkage/whatever that is telling the ecu that it's in drive, or maybe something is messed up and it's actually still in drive.

P.S. Manual tranny FTW
