Key stuck in the ignition
Hey everyone I have a 95 integra and my key is stuck in the ignition. My ignition switch fried on me a while back, and I had to replace it. Here is the problem though with the new ignition switch the key will not turn back far enough to let me get the key out. Has anyone had a problem like this before? If you guys need anymore info just ask.
Is this the first time its happened? In all Hondas you have to make sure not to just yank the keys out. Always gently turn it, and move the steering wheel back and forth, also try starting the car, then push it in and turn back.
Yeah I know that, but here is the thing I bought the new ignition switch from acura and to actually be able to use the ignition I had to first put the key in the ignition and then install the switch. The new switch doesnt let the key turn far enough to let me take the key out of the ignition. The real question is the dealer and only has one part number for the ignition switch. The switch that they gave me is the wrong one for my car, and I cant find the right one. Does anyone know what the part number is for the correct switch?
[QUOTE=Slow91teg;46839315]is it an automatic trans? if so it could be your gear shift not selecting the switch when it is in park.[/QUO
No its a manual
Heres anothere thing though. When I unistalled the bad ignition switch it had a wire running from the tumbuler system where the key goes in to the plug to the fire wall. When I looked at the factory manual it does not have this wire. the thing is its still the original car from 1995, so that is the switch it came with from the factory

First thing to know is, are you replacing the part that the key goes into (lock cylinder) or the switch on the back of the lock?
Honda/ Acura uses a longer X214 key used on 1996-2002 that replaced the shorter X195key used from 1993-1995. If the key is the shorter key it will go in and turn on but is too short to push in from postion 1 (accessory) to off/lock.
When removing the lock cylinder you have to turn key to accessory to push the retainer leaving the switch in accessory position. Sometimes people will turn the switch with a flat balde screw driver to turn back to off and that could cause a timing issue.
