sometime last spring every window in my '97 honda accord 4-door stopped working except for the driver's window. mechanic said it'd cost me $84 just to take off the driver's side door panel to look at it but suggested i go to a local parts garden (junkyard) where they tell me the help would find the part i needed, take off the panel and replace the part and if it worked, i'd pay. if it didn't, i wouldn't. anybody know what the name or part number might be for the motor or switch that's burnt-out?

So are you needing the "master" switch? A few quick tests will confirm.

see, i don't know what it's called. all 3 passenger windows quit working at the same time. i got in the car, turned the key, hit the auto-roll down on the driver's window, went to roll the others down, nada on the others. thank god they quit working when they were up. just the driver's side window has kept working. i thought it could be a fuse under the hood or something but the mechanic says no, says it could be the window-motor or the master switch or something. so yeah, it could be the master switch, like i know what that means.

Do you have a volt meter and willing to pull the switch for testing?

my mechanic does. i wouldn't know how to get at the thing w'out damaging the door. any good sources for manuals on this sorta thing?

Thanks, Poorman. Btw, I meant to get back to you (and several others) who attempted to help me a while back over the oil leak near the oil filter? You won't believe this but the situation resolved itself on its own somehow. After having had to keep adding oil a quart at a time while I was getting suggestions about what to do about it, it stopped leaking. Go figger.
