Default Power window goes up, not down.

This car's problems never cease. 97 four door. The passenger front window started acting up around the same time I destroyed the driver's side regulator and motor.

From the driver's switch, neither up nor down will work. From the passenger switch, up works (window tries to close more) but down does nothing and doesn't even seem to engage the motor (silence). It almost sounds like a fuse issue because they usually have a failsafe built into them, in this case still being able to roll your window up.

Has anyone come across this strange phenomena?

Test the driver's door switch for the passenger window (see FAQs sticky - Electrical section).

Yikes ... That doesn't sound fair!

Ok, well that makes a little bit more sense.

Yes, quite often actually. Sounds like "Abusive Ownership"! haha

Depending on what your definition of "destroyed" happens to be, you may have crossed some functions of your electrical window system, and completely obliterated others. Since parts are very common and cost effective, I would just replace the originally destroyed components. If you suspect the fuses, then why not have a look?
