Hidden Intercooler

Re: Hidden Intercooler
small water-to-air setup would be the most effective imo if you dont wanna use a front mount. I dont like top mounts and it would be more trouble than its worth in just mounting it properly in our applications.

Re: Hidden Intercooler
i know what he's talking about when running the intercooler slanted. a few Skylines and 350z's that ive seen have their set up like that. mainly because you have a company that has the time and money to set it up that way. here you go:
that and the 240sx, 350z and the Skyline all have space in the fron to do that. that way it wont interfere with the turbo piping, nor heat up the charge piping, thus nullifying the point to the intercooler. all the turbos on those motors are mounted on the side of the motor. unless you find some way to mount your F22b to where the exhaust is pointing towards the fender, you wont be able to hide the I/C in a slant like they do.

I will be doing a rear mounted turbo. Just like the STS kits. www.ststurbo.com No intercooler needed! the length of the piping does it.
But if you don't think that will work. You can use a small side mounted intercooler like a DSM. All you need to do is remove your windshield washer reservoir is. It will be very small.

just looked at the pics under shaq's charger. looks pretty interesting(also interesting Shaq's charger has the wimpy little 2.7l, that kind of money get the srt8, or at least the 5.7), but better be damn careful of sewer grates, rocks, etc, because your not going to only smash your cat anymore.
also, not sure exactly what difference it makes if any, but or 6500 bucks installed, dont you think you'd get mandrel bends? I mean my 20 dollar intake off ebay is mandrel bent. its probably alot harder to get multiple bends on one long peice, but its an expensive kit...

Re: Hidden Intercooler
just out of curiousity, is there enough space on the side of the front bumper for a SMIC? I know supras and eclipses have a SMIC, just a thought.

Re: Hidden Intercooler
When i was mounting my fmic, i don't recall much space for a side mount in the actual bumper. I doubt he'd want to drill into the side of that to mount it anyway.

Re: Hidden Intercooler
or I guess it could be the fact that Id just expect a turbo kit costing almost 7k to be installed would be mandrel bent. almost every other kit in existance is, right?
GReddy, Turbonetics, RevHard, Drag, Edelbrock, ....
they all have mandrel bent piping.

Re: Hidden Intercooler
exactly. doing stuff like that takes money. if the OP wants to be different, have at it. but he'll spend more money on just trying to get his I/C to be slanted for no reason being different in the is industry some times cost a lot.

Re: Hidden Intercooler
Wow thanks for all the ideas guys. Once again just a thought, and did not know if it have ever been done. I do like the idea of putting it where the battery is, on the side of the engine bay, and the air filter for CAI is right there so make a scoop that sits right where that usually does to direct air flow. I think that would not be a bad idea, and nor would a black IC. Just want to try something a little different thats all.

Re: Hidden Intercooler
haha. Yeah it was mentioned at least 5 times. I think I am going to do a side mount intercooler. I mean for right now I am only going to run stock boost.
