Default reading plastigage for bearings

checking main bearing for specs(b18c1)
with green plastigage.
my ? may/may-not make sense, but i wasnt to sure, thought id ask about correctly reading plastigage scale.

when measuring squished plastigage mark at the widest part with plastigage scale,
do you match the mark with the corresponding green or white blocks that have measurement already on them?
or am i post to read it like a ruler(example. mark start at 0 and however wide it goes up to?

thanx

any post/ feedback welcome

the green and white are all diffrent sizes. they print the paper ruler that way so you can tell the diffrent sizes apart. Ijust got done putting acl berings in a b18c1, and it seems like it should be .0015-.0017. Please check service manual to verify that. Also the plastigauge should be fairly all the same width all the way across the journal. If it is diffrent widths then this is a good sighn of a taperd journal, witch would require attention.

my bearing clearances are .0007-.0014. plastigage has .001 and .0015 but no .0014, should it just look a slight bit smaller than the .0015 then? the service limit is .002 but what does that mean? .002 is way skinner than what i have.
