Stupid engine code 19
Sup guys,
I keep getting this stupid cel code and I don't understand why!! It's something like - automatic transmission cylinoid cable, or something along those lines... I don't have the code list in front of me... Anyhow, it doesn't make any sense! I have a 98 JDM Type-R tranny, not an auto. Why am I getting this code? Please help... It only comes on every couple days or so.
Thanks

Are you using an automatic ECU?
What ECU are you using and are you sure you checked the right code list for the type of ECU you have?

It comes from your ECU, it's an automatic if you're getting code 19
I'm pretty sure I'm reading them correctly... It flashes once, then a long pause, then nine short pauses... It does this over and over.

That's typical for an AUTO ECU... It's just an automatic transaxle lockup solenoid CEL and it's not hurting anything... Check your ECU it will have something similar to this... 37820-P28-A00... What are your last three digits??? 37820-P28-xxx... I'm willing to bet that it's not A00, A01, A02 etc... those are all manual reversions... If the ECU's part numbers are no longer on the casing and female connector open up the casing and look at the board... About 3.25" in and 1.125" down from the connector side of the ECU you'll notice a 5 pin VTEC transistor... If you have a VTEC P28 board... (02D01720-1500 or the 11F0-1500)... If not then I doubt your VTEC is working... Anyways directly under it you'll notice two more 5 pin transistor sockets... IC16 and IC15 on the 1720-1500 board... These are the auto sockets... If you have transistors in them then you've got an AUTO ECU... If not then i'm not sure why you've got a CEL 20 up... hehe... Well Good Luck and I hope this helps

__|long flash|_|short|_|short|_|short|_|short|_|short|_|sh ort|_|short|_|short|_|short|_ Then ya got a code 19 which I'm pretty sure he is reading correct... If he's got an auto ECU then that's why the CEL is up... Really JimBlake you are correct about the way it was said in what you quoted... long ='ing a 10 ¤long pause¤ followed by 9 short ='ing 9... If this were the case something would most likely be messed up in the wiring/connections for the IAT and CYP... I'm just thinking it was stated a little bit off... Oh well, doesn't matter.... Peace
Kataku's in Oregon & Lude...'s in LA, so I'm guessing you're not working together on the same car?
Kataku sounded a little unsure about reading the code. So if its really a long pause, then its two separate codes. If the space between the long & the first short is about the same as the space between all the other shorts, then he probably wouldn't have said 'long pause'. I hope I'm not being too much of a jerk, cause I'm trying to help.
Hope you get it figured out.

BTW, sorry for taking so long to resond, for some reason, I was unable to post more than 5 times in a 24hr period

Okay, well then you have a code 1 and a 9... That's not an automatic transaxle lockup code which makes me wonder if you truely have an auto ECU... Latez
... but why do you say I sounded unsure about the code???...
Now it sounds like code 1 along with code 9. He wasn't really sure if he had an ECU for automatic, since he got it from Erick's Racing. Codes 1 & 9 should be the same for auto or manual anyway.
