check light on at 50k miles????
well tonite i was drivin all my check engine light came on all of a sudden...i dont know why it would...my car only has like 50k miles on it....has anyone had this problem?....could something being loose cause the light to come on?...thanx in advance

it doesnt matter what your mileage is... you need to check the codes, i dont know if its the same for the 5thgen, but in my 4thgen u hafta jump the ecu by taking out a blue plug behind the center console and then use something to connect them together. then after u turn the ignition (but not all the way) read the code that flashes long=10 short=1 , and there yah go...

I think 5th gen has this same plug, but would be more accurate to use OBD2 scanner and check code that way. That way you'll get the specific code for the failure, not just the generic code.

What are you talking about. Obviously you haven't worked on many newer Hondas have you?
Most of the Honda products from '98-newer either have a maintenance required light or indicator similar to a trip odometer (goes from green to yellow to red) that comes on every 7500 miles.
Depends what car it is as to which type of indicator it has.
So, no, you go smoke another one DUDE. I have a lot of experience, so I'd be safe to say that I think I know what I'm talking about here.

Ok I just got done smoking mine
Trip button pushed, key turned on and Im waiting for the light to go off........
They really only let me work on the, 89 and under honda's...Im sorry

there is no way anybody could tell you what is wrong with your car
just by you saying it has a cel, fisrt find out what cel it is and then
give us some more info

well today i ran a diagnostic on my car to see what the problem is...and it was my o2 sensor...so i just reset it and now the light is off...but thanx anyway guys
