Default unusual check engine light

ok here is the problem, i have a 98 civic coupe and i noticed that onece the engine is completely cool and then i start it and drive after about a minuit the check engine light comes on. the problem is if i turn off the ignition and turn it back on the light comes off and stay off .

the thing is it hard to do a code check because once i turn the egnition off it would come back on any i deas what could be the cause of this?????????

you should still be able to scan it even when the light is off, the ecu should store the code

Yep. An OBD-2 car should store the code for a few drive cycles, so even though the light went out, the code can still be retrieved with an OBD-2 scanner.
