this may help but i am not for sure if the sunroof in the 96-00 is the same as the crx. On the crx I had the same problem and what it was on eath corner of the sunroof there are drain tubes. my front right tube (pass. side) was loose and when it would rain water would get down there an follow the a-pillar down to the floorboard. like i said don't know for sure if it the same but i would cheack it out. jus pull your headliner only takes like 10 min. hope this helps.

Had the same problem with my first EK. Turned out I had a leak with my heater core. However if your not adding fluid to the radiator this is most likely not your problem.

My issue is that the drivers side floor area was soaking wet AFTER it had rained.

I have a 2004 civic and what I found is that the hood release line GROMET had become loose and out of place. You'll have to remove the plastic cover underneath the hood release area to take a peek. The gromet was still attached to the hood release latch so I just pushed it back into place and put silicone. The line goes through the drivers front tire well. Turn the wheel to the left and take a look underneath to locate the hood release line. You'll find out that there's an exposed area where water can get in.

Easy fix for me. Hope this helps anyone with the same issue.

Mine was from the sunroof drain tubes getting plugged up at the valves at the back of the car. The tubes would then back up with water and the sunroof tray would begin to fill. If there was enough rain, it would overflow and spill down into the cabin.
