drivers side floorboard sopping wet?! need help
well just like the title says ever since about 4 months ago i get in my car and the floor would be sopping wet. id vacuum it up and it would just keep getting wet everytime it rained. its a 98 coupe with no rust but it has been in an accident but it never use to get wet inside after the accident so i dont think its that. i thought it might be the sealant on the windshield because ive heard of cases where thats happend but i got the windshield replaced because it was cracked and it still does it. i checked the moonroof and thats not leaking. i took off the drivers side kick panel because it seems like it gets more wet in the front and i had my dad pour water down the windshield and i could see a bit of water dripping down some wires that were way up there but i couldnt see where it was exacally where it was coming from. does anybody have any ideas its driving me nuts and its ruining my car at the same time.

i told the guy that was replacing my windshield to look for stuff like that and he said he didnt see anything or any signs of it leaking so i dont think its that. i have a small hole drilled in one of the plugs in the firewall for my boost and oil pressure guage but ive never seen water coming from that.

could potentially be a seat on firewall. there are several wires, rods, etc that run through it. on my friends car we had to basically cover the top half of the firewall w/ bondo and that rubberized coating spray. do you have an after market stereo? if you drilled through the firewall hooking up ur amp it could be leaking there too.

from what im thinking it is coming from the firewall since i have seen water dripping down some wires along the uper left side of the firewall but its almost impossible the get to those wires let alone see whats above them. id prabably have to take out the dash along with other things so i want to make sure thats what it is. ive contemplated selling my car for this reason alone it is seriously driving me nuts

Could it be the trim below the windshield wipers broke on you, possibly during a windshield replace, wiper replace, or anything else you would remove that piece for? I've never had that happen on my eg, but on some other cars... not 100% sure if that dumps into the cabin or not.

just take out the carpet halfway and seal out every possible spot you see underneath. you'll probably get where the water is leaking in even if you don't specifically see a hole. if not, you're only out 5$ on a can of rubber spray crap and 10 mins of ur time. it might keep you from selling ur car! or could mean you get more money out of ur car when you do decide to sell because ur interior won't be rotted out. lol

i was actually referring to the evaporator not the evap canister...have u noticed that when u turn on ur a/c in the summer time that there is drips of water from under the car from a tube..well usually if that tube gets plugged up and the condensation from the evap doesnt have anywhere to go it will leak into the passenger side carpet area

Re: (ekb16)
There's a leak problem with the EH adn EJ chassis due to insufficient sealer on the seam at the firewall. Not sure if this probelm stretched to the EK chassis or not.
Just re-seal everything at the firewall.

Re: (antiguru)
check your fenders and firewall area for any leaves and other things blocking the draining of the water from the top of the car to the bottom of the car. happened to my friend's dc2 and once he cleared thats stuff out of the bottom there was no more water inside the car.
