Turbo Sizing question...
Ok, i'm looking for some opinions. I've been trying to decide what turbo I want to run and haven't been able to make a solid decision. My setup is a B20/VTEC, 10:1 comp forged pistons, Eagle H-beams, ITR head and cams, JG edelbrock intake manifold. I'm looking for a turbo that is going to give instant throttle response (car is going to be a time attack HPDE car) but still have an ability to make considerable top end power. I'm thinking something capable of 450whp on this setup but one with a very linear powerband. I don't need a rollercoaster ride right in the middle of my RPM range.
I was considering the GT28RS but it seems like such an expensive price for not that great of a turbo. It's not very efficient and not capable of great power, but it is extremely responsive. I would like to run a GT30R, but don't know of one that would give me the type of power band i'm looking for.
Anyways, can anyone help?

What kind of power are you wanting to make?
The GT28rs you are refering to is a very good choice. I dont think you should under estimate the ability it has. 385 is a whp number. I can sell you that charger for 599.99 plus shipping. What GT30 are you refering too?

I was thinking of the 3040R, but haven't seen any dyno graphs of one on a 2.0L so i'm not sure if it will give the poweband i want.
i'm pretty sure that the 28rs is going to be too small for what i want. It will be perfect on the track, but I also like to have fun on the highway, and here in houston, 385hp isn't enough to hang with the good guys.

Re: (SecretAgent)
I have not seen any dyno charts for that charger either. You could go with a GT2871R-2 That charger is good for 450hp. We could change the exhaust and compressor housing to increase the output up to 490HP without going to a bigger/slower charger. If you let me know what kind of power you are looking to make I can fit your need.
