checking timing
my timing is jumpy and i can't get a definitive number because the white mark on the crank pulley doesn't line up with the pointer on the timing belt cover. it would line up to the pointer for a quick moment and fluctuate back and forth.
i'm running JG turbo camshafts on my LS engine, would this be a factor with this timing issue?
i'm using the Craftsman advanced timing gun with the dial.

Re: checking timing (Hatch4urSnatch)
when you shoot the timing light at the crank pully you are supposed to look for the red mark that has the 2 marks above and below it.. i have never seen the white mark appear with a timing light only the red one..

make sure you jump your ECU.
it will smooth it out

Re: checking timing (Mase)
also the reason u see the white mark is because your shooting 16 degrees of advance
nextelbuddy isnt using an advance gun, thus thats why u are at the red.

yes, the ECU was jumped prior to checking the timing.
thanks for the suggestion though.
