Default Hondata and MSD SCI

Hi,

I am wondering if I have the Hondata ECU and the S200 will I need to or can I still use my MSD Ignition box?

Thanks.

What made me ask this question, is that I noticed that the MSD controls the spark directly so does this mean that the ECU will not have any control of the rev limiter? That means no rev limiter?

Do you have the silver box, or the blue box? Because the newer blue boxes for the SCI, DO NOT have an over all rev limiter. The blue SCI boxes are identical to the red Digital 6 boxes with the exception that the red Digital 6 boxes DO have the over all limiter.

Regardless, you can use either the MSD one (if so equipped) or the Hondata.

Hey there, yeah I have the Silver MSD SCI 6300 box. So will this work with the Hondata ECU?

What confuses me though, is that I read that the Hondata ECU controls the ignition timing for boost BUT since the MSD is controlling the spark / ignition - how does the Hondata operate in that case?

You set the rev limiter in your computer. It has an ignition output that goes to the MSD box. The ignition output on the computer tell the MSD box when to fire. Simple as that. S

Well I just found out why I was confused lol - well it so happens that Hondata actually uses the fuel cut off for its revlimiter and MSD uses the ignition spark for it's cut off. Makes sense to me lol.

msd 6300 has no cutoff. if it did you would have a spot on the front for "pills" to be put in. but the 6320 has the cut off.
