** Does Hondata make my MSD 6 BTM useless??**
Alright, well I have been pieceing together a turbo set up for my '01 GSR for quite some time now. I have this need to feel like I have everything I could need to make this set up work as reliably as possible....sooooo..
I have a NIB Hondata S200B and a P72 socketed OBD1 ecu I plan to have tuned once everything is installed.
And just recently I bought an MSD 6 BTM with MSD blaster coil thinking it would help me (well, the tuner anyway) tune the car more closely to perfection....
...but I just now thought/realized....does Hondata already acount for everything the MSD 6 BTM does???

you can still use the BTM for your ignition box (capacitive discharge), just unplug the adjustment ****. You will use the Hondata for all your timing adjustments.

You can still use the coil. However assuming your stock coil doesn't have a ton of miles on it, and that you are not going to make stupid power, then I would sell it.

But would that be very cost effective? Like if I needed capacitive discharge for my ignition I could probably buy a much cheaper unit to do omly that...right?

2001 GSR has 36k on it right now...will be shooting for ~275whp on 8 psi.
I think I will have to resell it ( I hate the thought of wasting money) . But if someone could argue that it would be considerably beneficial to my set up, and not be replaced with a cheaper more basic unit, then I would consider keeping it.
Damn I wish I would have asked this before I bought this...

Just put it on ebay for the price you bought it for.
Your stock ignition will be fine for that power. However I just realized you have the MSD 6 BTM, and not just the BTM, so you would be getting alittle extra spark from it, but its really not necessary. If for some reason you did want the extra spark, I would sell the BTM and just get the 6al or whatever it is. I like to mess with as little as possible when it comes to the "piggyback" management systems, I dont like the way my car runs with them.
