Default Question About High Octaine Leaded Fuel

I've heard the High Octaine Leaded Fuel makes your engine run more efficient and cooler. I run a Test Pipe and have a Fully-Built Turbocharged GSR Engine. I want to run about 15psi at the Track. Should I try the Hight Octaine Leaded Fuel and if so, how high octaine should I get? Thank you.

yeah but it'll eat up your o2 sensor....so if you're going to run it, better have a spare

To take advantage of higher octane gas you really need to have your car tuned around racing gas. You need to increase your timing, and lean out your mixture. You can run higher boost levels with your tune with race gas, but you wont be getting the maximum amount of power out of the gas, which is essentially what you want with "at the track" performance. Shoot for air/fuel 13.5:1~13:1, and increase your timing at least 1-2 degree per pound of boost. Note: This is aggressive tuning, its not recommend to use this method of tuning for a street driven car on pump gas.

the original reason that they put lead in Gas was to have a cushion between the valve and the valve seat. they had "soft" seats but now all the cars come with hardened seats elimanating the need for dirty *** leaded fuel. There is really NO reason for you to run leaded gas in your GSR

i really dont understand why you guys want to run this in your daily driven street cars, you know you will have to tune it to run right on this gas, and then retune it to run it on regular pump gas, to me its just not worth it. But if its your race car or just not a street car then i guess go for it. All i am saying is that for a daily drivan primary mode of transportation vehicle, its just not worth it (to me)

Rob, I'm just thinking I can turn the boost up a little bit more ( from 12psi on the street to 15psi ) and not have to worry about detonation. There is a Union 76 Station close to where I live that sells Unleaded 101 Octaine that I may test at the track. Thanks for everyone's comments!
