What effects will Higher Octane fuel make to your current tune?

What effects will Higher Octane fuel make to your current tune?
Basicly i'm lookin to find out if my tune is set for pump gas, what positive/negitive results would i see if i put some 114octane fuel in for a race day?

race gas likes timing because it burns slower. so if you dont change anything, theoretically, it will slow the car down. you may be able to increase the boost more too.

Race gas on a tune that isn't for it... will do zip... and as said... can slow the car down.
Ideally you run the lowest octane fuel possible without detonation... it burns fastest and thus... works better. Higher octanes get used when pushing knock/detonation limits and are required to prevent preignition.
All in all... if not tuned for it... pretty much useless.

if you're worried about the motor on its current state pushing the limits on pump, you can add a couple gallons of race fuel to bump up the octane a hair, that way there is a cushion between the threshold of detonation/preignition
