Default Propane Injection.

I've done some searches for this topic, came up with a few.. but they weren't what i was looking for..

I'm lookin for peoples opinions on them ~ If you have a Propane setup.. what type of car/engine setup are you running.. and how do you like it?

My roomate runs propane on his eclipse.. and he really likes it, but none of my buddies with hondas have it.

Thanks.

(also any pics of your propane setup would be cool.)

It's usually used on them, but it can also be used on Gas engines.. the jist of it is, it lets you run race gas all the time using pump gas. And it's extremely cheap.

Where does he mount the tank and what type of "controller" does he use?

Hmm ... wonder if my Hondata could be used/setup for Propane instead of Nitroud as a "booster".

He mounts his tank in the trunk.. with the kit he bought (from http://www.importpoweronline.com/) you can select what PSI you want the propane to "inject" at.. he his set around 13psi i believe.

Good question about the Hondata, i should send them an email and ask about it.

i plan on running a propane setup, the only thing holding me back, is im re-designing my turbo setup as well as manifold and a few other things, propane has the potential to lay down some VERY good numbers on pump gas.

on highly tuned hondas, you could expect to easily see over 450 whp on PUMP GAS with propane assist.

Propane is 110 octane and -40 degrees out of the bottle.

I did alot of research into and it looks really promising. I'm going with water injection instead.. Don't let the octane rating of the propane throw you off.. There is not enough propane being injected to really change the octane of the fuel.. Its more the effect the propane has in the combustion chamber that makes it work.. Much like water injection. One of the reasons I am going with water injection is the way it cleans everything.

From my roommate: "when im at 100% duty cycle and propane starts injecting, it is accounting for 1/5 the fuel entering the engine. if you have the funds, you can get an safc and lean out the upper ranges, then up your propane:gas ratio. but if you are like me, you lean out your upper rpm range by not having an aftermarket fuel pump or injectors, and simply forcing them to hit a wall at 100% duty cycle, then adding propane on top of that nonlinearly."

(4(93)+1(120))/5 is the octane mix you throw in, which isnt much more than 96 or 97 octane, but octane isnt the key to propane's effects. propane, since it is injected in truly gaseous form fills your combustion chamber much more evenly, and detonates more evenly as well thus, any places in your combustion chamber where the droplets of gasoline arent, propane is, and this prevents knock extremely well.

using that formula i got 98.4 octane with a 1:4 ratio of propane and 93 pump gas.

i'll def. be getting propane for my turbo setup!
