Default integra overheating problem

so my car has been overheating lately, but only when i have been cruising for a while.
it doesnt overheat just driving in town, even if i hit boost. it overheats if im cruising for a while on the highway, usually close to 3k rpm. im running a del sol radiator and it runs hot to like 3/4 to hot on the temp gauge. it goes back to normal with the heat blasting, but i cant just drive w/ the heat on all the time cause its warm here. ive bled the cooling system, and even changed the mixture. i picked up a new thermostat to see if that helps. dont know if its jsut that or could it be the headgasket?? its not burning coolant and oil is fine too.

i searched but didnt find what i was looking for. please help

Did you put on the new thermostat yet?I recently had same problem as you did and it was my thermostat making the temp needle go up and up down...but frum you were describing it sounds like a thermostat problem.Let us know

feel the upper and lower main coolant hoses. if one is hot and the other is not, its the thermostat. otherwise you may have LOTS of air in the system and it wasnt bled properly.

What's the word on this? I am having the same problem. Only heats up to 75% or so after driving at 3K on freeway for >15mins steady.

I've noticed my overflow tank doesn't seem to get hot at all (not working?) so maybe try the radiator cap.

Almost same setup here, civic PWR radiator with high CFM fan pulling from the back.

Maybe the new thermostat fixed it and forgot to update. Still need to put in a new one in my girls car as well. Too much to do last weekend. I'm waiting for updates too!

What kind of thermostat you using? (Stock). I tried two different kind from Advance Auto Parts one time and had overheating issues. Took them back and went to the Honda/Acura dealer and picked up a stock one and my problems went away. Did you bleed the system? I think its a screw or bolt underneath the thermostat housing that your supposed to loosen to let the air out of the system. Could also possibly be your engine coolant temp sensor.

thermostat was replaced and i also changed the mixture to about 80/20 water/coolant. it still overheats but not as often. did it on the highway after about half an hour or so, and does it if i get into boost a couple of times

If you can get access to a radiator pressure tester test it to see if it will hold pressure and not bleed off. Could have a small leak somewhere and its unoticeable It could cause the radiator to not function properly. My beater car has a bad radiator and leaks no fluid whatsoever. and a small thing try a new radiator cap on it for *****.

drove it today and wasnt boosting. just driving about 45mph cruisin and it started to get hot.....and my idle fluctuates until it warms up and makes a loud whooooshing sound, like air leaking somewhere until it warms up. any idea what could be the cause???and could that be why im overheating?????

try changing your coolant temp sensor/switch. i think there's two of them. don't remember which does what but you might as well change them both. I had a overheating problem, change the sensors out for new ones and fixed the problem
