How does the AVC-R boost duty cycle work
Hey guys, im deciding on what electroninc boost controller i want to get and my choices are between the apex'i AVC-R or the Gizzmo ibc - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/GIZZMO-...wItem
My question is reguarding the feature on the avc-r called boost duty cycle, how does it work, and how valuable is it?
From the way i see it, what would get the best spool times, is for the boost controller to keep the wastegate fulley closed till yur max boost, and once your max boost has been reached, regulate it at that pressure.
How can the avc-r increase the spool time at all over a boost controller that works this way??
How does this feature actually work, what does it do to control spool times??
The only way i can see it could decrease spool times, is by forcing more exhaust through the turbo, how can it do that any better than a boost controler that has the wastegate fulley closed till full boost?
The way i see it, the only way it could effect spool is by slowing it down, not speeding it up.

duty cycle, is a percentage of on time within a given off time, for example, my mig welder has a 15% duty cycle. thats 15% of 10 minutes. so my welder can run full bore for 1.5 minutes before it needs to cool down.
when a wastegate is used with the vac line to the bottom port, it regulates by opening up and letting exh out.
to increase spool time, the top port is used. at this point, the febc will regulate the pressure to the top pushing the gate closed. when desired boost is reached, it levels off, and reduces the pressure holding shut the gate. the other way, it is open all the time, letting boost off, untill desired boost is reached.
