So I have a Precision 650 right now and the thing is massive (relative to the room I have) and I really don't want to cut out my grill and have a cut out front bumper for the intercooler and charge pipes.
Anyone have a brand name one they are using that will sit behind the bumper (with some trimming of course)?
Uh, that's an EK haha.... he has an EF. Totally different space behind the bumper. There is WAY more height, width, AND depth on an EK.
It's been close to a decade since my last EF turbo build, but the main problem is getting the intercooler piping to the intercooler. You are limited to very sharp bends or a custom back door set up. Your best in my opinion is to just have a custom intercooler made and call it a day if you want to keep the outside looking stock. The crash bar is important, but can be properly modified if needed to still provide some type of safety.

Either way i was just referencing the fact that if you have a well made intercooler it doesnt need to be 24" tall.
I had the same issue, ended up going with a 2.5" thick garrett intercooler this time around as to not have to hack my bumper at all, and I wanted to run prelude foglights. It is there medium core intercooler
I got mine from greg @ goautoworks, had him weld on some cast 90* aluminum bends on the end instead of straight pieces, it allows for very easy backdoor piping just between the frame rails, I think tip to tip the intercooler is 32" which fits with about 1/2" clearance on each side of the chassis. Greg assured me the intercooler was good north of 300whp, and Ive had no problem daily driving with this intercooler for 2 years now @ 20+ psi, IATS never surpass 120* on the hottest days
Did you buy that core with endtanks on it already? And do you have proof that it's a Garrett? Those definitely are China endtanks abd that doesn't look like a Garrett core. Who'd you but it from? Just looking out for members.
Yea the SRT4 stock intercoolers work well. They are a Garrett core and IIRC stay efficient to around 350hp. They must fit well because I see a lot of EF owners using them
Crx: 650hp Precision took some doing on the 90-91 crx bumper with the air dams cut and bit of trimming up front on the grille... I had an HF so the stock bumper bar was the thin one... Probably could of even gone as big as the 750 one...
Cant speak power limits but have you considered A2W? I have an A2W setup on my CRX. The heat exchanger is much thinner than a regular A2A intercooler. Was able to fit under the factory bumper with a little trimming. Sorry this is the only photo I could find.
So I did some measuring and I guess I have the 600hp intercooler. I am just going to "backdoor" one of the end tanks. I have a friend who can TIG weld, so I am going to grab some 1/8th aluminium and have him fab it up for me.
