Do you NEED bigname sleeves?
Are most ductile iron sleeves equal?Do you have to get the bigname sleeves like darton,or benson?I have a local machine shop that has an excellent reputation and has been in business for 35yrs.They said that they could resleeve my GSR block for like $600 but they said that they used some sleeve that I had never heard of.I'm just looking to save time and money by doing it local. What do you think?

$600 really isnt saving you much money anyway..
especcially if all you get is the sleeves installed
when I built my motor I had Bensons do all the work, the Darton sleeves were only $800 installed...
is $200 worth the piece of mind??
the other thing to consider is you can buy a name brand sleeve and have that shop put it in for you, that will prolly save some money (a regular ductile iron sleeve itself is not expensive at all)

Well its really 3.2 cylinders. Compression #'s 182,182,178,110. Leakdown 7%,7%,8%,82%. It still runs and idles pretty well. The weirdest thing is that at idle it has 19-21 vaccume.

Re: Do you NEED bigname sleeves? (1320development)
I'd say that most ductile Iron sleeves are pretty equal...I, myself am going to run ARI sleeves
I don't see the difference between running a ductile iron sleeve from a "Brand Name" company as compared to a "no name" company. Is there any difference between the sleeve material itself? I'm pretty sure it's not much.
But I believe the big difference is in the installation itself. If a shop has little to no experience with installing the sleeves, or even the right equipment to do the job...I'll be more willing to pay the extra $$ to get it done RIGHT. I wouldn't want to be a guinea pig for whatever local shop that's willing to cut me a few bucks so they can experiment on my motor.
Just my 0.02.

to me it is the guarantee and warranty. If they have been doing this for this long, what kind of warranty do they offer? If they give you a nice warranty then i don't see why not. Later

my local machine shop has been working on road race cars for about 3 decades now...They've dabbed into some hondas, but mostly pistons and rods...They have only done 2 other honda motors and they have been very successful.
ARI=Auto race industry
I bought my pistons and rods through ARI about 1.5 years ago and had great service. I'm gonna go thre again
ductile iron is ductile iron to me
plus, with teh closed deck of the H22 motors, it'll be more stout than an open deck design

We have run the ari sleeves on an h22 and they work well. I myself run GE No problems at 28psi of boost and over 550hp for several months now.

basically like darton .
there is also a shop close to me that can install (dartons for example) and they also do good work.
im al ittle weary of having a closed deck block though.
