D16Z6 1/8mile what a joke...
Well went to the track today, without slicks, very bad idea. I got wheel spin the whole way down the track, well maybe not the last couple feet.. I am not going back without slicks, it is impossible to get any kind of traction. Not just off the line, I even bogged it once to see what it would do, as soon as second gear, ripped right up to redline, and I had to keep feathering it. WOW what a day.
So I ran this
1/8 10.32
MPH 75.98
1/8 10.329
MPH 74.89
Both were bogged into 3rd gear and then took off. What a day for me, learning experience, first time with a FWD car. My RX7 hooks up right away, ran 9.7 consitantly with it, and I know the civic is a lot faster than my RX7. Will post some more, when I get some slicks on this beast. Atleast I know it runs good, lots of wheel spin. HAHA

That's always a positive, knowing that it runs good All I have to do is reiterate what you said - traction man, damn! What type of numbers are you putting down the wheels?

Slicks, drag radials, low tire pressure, LSD, motor mounts, springs, struts, traction bars, power shifting, etc... those will all help, but the slicks will help the most.

I know what you mean about that massive wheelspin today.
After you left, I lowered my tire pressure by 15 PSI, but the best time I got was 10.3.
I blame my time on my frickin' big 17-inch wheels/40 series tires, my poor 16-year-old driving skills, and my heavy '98 coupe!
BTW, I liked the DIY turbo, man. Looked good.

Hey thanks man, it was crazy today. I have the slicks lined up for the next time. I think in 2 weeks. Then we can see what it can do. Let me know if you are going or not, that would be cool. I am also going to see if Mikie wants to go, that would be sweet. I just did a little test on the street today, grabbed second and it spun like a mother, so it isn't just the track.. haha, I will just stay off it for a while.

Haha, let me see you run this thing without slicks. It spins not matter what, if I could have a progressive boost controller or a "slippable" clutch maybe I could do something. But clutch is on or off, and it spools so fast it just spins, useless at the track I am running at

Oh also, I am not saying that I am not a bad driver, because this is the first FWD car I have owned, I have driven all RWD and AWD cars, this was my first experience with a FWD at the track, so that has to be taken into consideration too, but still wheel spin was dominant factor.

o ok. u still are a bad driver with a fwd car
ride the clutch and dont full throttle it with 1st and 2nd...u will always slip.
i was too, but pratice is key to perfection.
1/8 mile? there isnt a 1/4 around ur way?
anyhow good luck

I can't slip the clutch though, there isn't really anything to slip. I tried not giving it full throttle, it still spin though. I can't wait to do it again though, I have been thinking about how to do it. It should be fun next time, there isn't a 1/4 mile around, the 1/8 is like 20 minutes from my house. I am in the learning process with FWD, it sucks when the damn front end starts shaking from getting wheel hop, I get it in second gear on the street. I am still not use to it. RWD it just slides around and is all good.

Re: (93turbo16)
how big of a turbo are you running?
i can easily modulate power with my car (d16a6 w/ little t25 turbo) using the gas and the clutch. just get some experience man also use FTL with uberdata (since you do have an obd1 car). that will really help to get you out of the hole.
btw; what was the auto-manual swap like in your car?
i have a friend with an obd2 coupe (2k i think) and its a slushbox and i'm making him swap to a 5spd before i help him at all with any kind of FI
I know the obd1 and obd2 cars are different but at the same time they're sorta similar aren't they as far as mount position and pedal mess?

i had an auto 2k civic that 5 speed and turbo at the same time. the pedal is all the same. its the clutch master cylinder that makes the diff. the eg and dc master cylinder is much different from the eks...remember that. it deals with how far the pedal sits in conjunchtion to the master cylinder.
since he is going 5 speed, u might as well tell him to get an obd1 ecu and a harness, that way it prevents more CELs appearing after u do it and the car will run much better (performance wise)

Re: (ek9vboi2)
thats what we're doing; uberdata all the way.
so was the swap pretty straight forward? just bolt up the 5spd; mount all the pedals run the hydro lines and cut a hole for the shifter? no serious fabrication involved?

Mine was straight forward, a couple things to wire up and I needed a new passenger side mount, but after that it all bolted up.
I am runng a 16G turbo the upgrade for a stock 14B, it is a good bit bigger than your T25, the clutch is a 6-puck sprung hub with stock flywheel. For an OBD-2 car there is no fabbing mounts, which is nice, safe yourself $130.
