Problem with ARP Head Stud and Cometic?
Just put some boost (23PSI) on my T6766 and B18 engine and after 4-5 tests, the engine start heating.
I have a Darton Sleeves 85mm on B18 with comectic headgasket.
I've just removed the head and 2 ARP Head Studs were longer than others about 2mm.
Which ARP Head stud and Headgasket do you recommend me?
Other question about the ARP Grease, where do you put them? in the bottom of the ARP bolt?
Thks

I will only use golden eagle studs and a oem gasket from ge. As for the lube you need to put it on the top and bottom threads of the studs and cover the washers with it also. I always put the lube in a bag drop the nuts and washers in there and move everything around till they are covered then you should be good.. what motor is it? B18 is not telling us much to help you

For that engine all the studs should be the same size. U need to put the lube on the top and bottom threads. U should also cover the washers and nuts to ensure proper torque

You should check them when you first put them in to know what you are starting with. It looks like you over stretched them or their QC is non existant. It also looks like you didn't use any moly lube, unless ARP changed from the gray lube and went to clear.
I use AEBS studs with moly lube. I actually torque the studs in the block, set the head on the head gasket and block, then torque. I heat cycle the motor 3 times, pull cams and retorque the nuts. It's worked for me so far.

Re: Problem with ARP Head Stud and Cometic?
yeah i think you got the lubing mixed up. the bottom of the stud uses motor oil, goes in the block at about 10 ftlbs. the top of the stud that gets the nut uses the moly lube, final torque somewhere around 80-85 max

It's a good idea to remove the black oxide coating from the threads on ARP's also. It is only there to prevent rust and it increases varience in torque readings from fastener to fastener.
