Light drag car pics?
Who's got some super light weight drag cars? I know some guys are cutting the chassis up big time to get down in weight. I'm curious to see what all is cut.
My new build might end up being an index car primarily, but I wanna put it on a super diet, and it has a heavy *** mild steel cage in it already from previous owner.
Pics of the weight reduction techniques are tough to come by on google so if you guys have some you'd like to share I'd like to see them. Things like doors an inner 1/4 panels and what not.

Re: Light drag car pics?
I'm aware of that. My old car, which was same body style, I was very happy with how it felt at 1900lbs. This new car has a heavy roll cage that I'd like to adjust for. As well as a few other things.
I'm not trying to cut my car up much, however I am amazed with how much guys cut off other cars. The light all motor cars, the street racers...
It's just winter and there's not much new going on I wanna see some cars lol

Judging buy your signature you are messing with an EF. Shouldn't be hard to drop more weight. Mine weighed 1790lbs last time I weighed it. That was before putting a cage in it, but 100% track ready otherwise. I haven't cut anything yet. I'm sure I could drop another 100lbs by getting rid of a bunch of crash structure that wouldn't hurt the actual rigidity of the car.

Yes it's an Ef hatch. My old car was 1940lbs with 3/4 tank of fuel b series hydro with no nitrous bottle and no driver, nothing cut off the car just no bumpers.
Plans for this one is same just more refined.
Going to use a simple wiring harness with nothing extra and a switch panel. Exospeed front end-already got that- kirkey seat, skinnies, carbon hood.
The only things ill cut are the rear seat brackets to clean it up and maybe gut the doors.

Mine is a turbo D. It is a Grassroots Motorsports $20XX Challenge car right now so its not the prettiest. 2013 is its last challenge year. Then it's going a lot faster. Here it is just minutes before being weighed the $2012 challenge.

had this in an HF crx with dash still in the car and full cage all motor B series and it weighed 1550 without
If you want to go cheap then you can just start swiss cheesing up the car everywhere with a holesaw.. not the safest but it will take weight off the car.

1400 lbs EG hatchback. Fiberglass front end, lexan, aluminum dash and floor, role cage, custom rear suspension, and fiberglass doors and hatch. In IFO I run outlaw, which is tough because I only have a stock b16. Ive ran NMRA event, can't remember the class. Hopefully one day the real "pro" all motor cars will return and I will be in that class.

I'm a huge turbo guy, but I would love to see some serious all motor classes. I have huge respect for them. I'm planning a mild n/a crx for myself.

Re: Light drag car pics?
I'd really like to keep it closer to a street class, so maybe gutting the doors and hatch out will be first before I do anything too crazy. It's got a beefy *** cage with x bars in the door openings.
If I did lexan I'd try to do DIY pieces and mout them close to factory, in case I do wanna go back to glass for an all motor streetcar ruled class.
I've heard that a carbon hatch isn't much different than oem because its frame is still steel. Can anyone confirm this?
I was just gonna hole saw my stock hatch

if you want to stay street class. you can get some additional doors and hack them up and lexan for when you want to drop more weight. for the original doors you can remove the door bar and regulator and keep the window held up with a bracket or something similar to hold it up. and cut anywhere else you see.
Also gut under the dash, heater, vents, black heavy mat. carpet, sound deadening, etc..

Re: Light drag car pics?
2nd set of doors is actually an idea I had myself.
It is an Ef hatch not a crx.
The bolt on stuff is all gone already and was all gone from my old car as well.

If you don't care about the passenger seat you can cut the part where the seat bolts down and any other small bracket in the engine bay, firewall, and anywhere else you see brackets or anything not of use, cut, cut, cut. thats the cheapest and easiest way to drop weight. a fuel cell will also drop quite a bit of weight if you havent done that yet.
