Looking for help and opinions on improving my sound quality
Here is my situation.. I drive a 2002 civic si hatch. Alpine HU.
Recently I installed 4 alpine coaxial type-s speakers (sps-610) in the front and back also leaving the oem tweeters by the mirrors. I have been having issues with the sound being incredibly harsh (referring to the sound of the tweeters). I have tried disconnecting the front oem tweeters thinking that may be the issue, but that did not help. I have tried to isolate the issue by fading the speakers all the way to the front. What I have found is that the right front tweeter is very overbearing on the alpines. It isn't that bad at all if I lean forward in the driver's seat. It seems like there is a hotspot right where the driver's seat is positioned.
I'm wondering if there is a way to disconnect the tweeters on the Alpine's that is reversible. Then I will just run the OEM tweets solely in the front. I don't want to spend any more money if possible. I had the same setup in my civic sedan, and I had no issues whatsoever. Different interior shape...
I've also tried turning back the high frequencies with the HU with no real change in results..
I know that it is a poor idea to run many sets of tweeters because of phasing issues. Basically, I like the way the OEM tweets sound, I'm just not sure how to approach this. Opinions and suggestions are welcome.
Thanks all,
Patrick

To clarify, I'm wondering if there is an easy way to disconnect the tweeters on this set of Alpine coaxial speakers. I'd rather not cut the factory wire if I don't have to.
Thanks again for any input.
