Re: (Used2beAb16)
Used2beAb16 does or did, not sure if he got all the bugs worked out, something wrong with his valvetrain I think.
I offered to get a set installed on my car (since I am somewhat local and in the market for cams) @ his (UGR's) shop as a trial and then could do a review on them but I was declined, even though I told him I was willing to pay full price.

Re: (crixzc)
actually i never did decline and if your still interested let me know i won't sell them to you at full pop,i'll give you a discount. used2beab16 is a good customer of mine and he knows i'll take care of you. this thread is crazy but it does not hurt UGR one bit because all i'm trying to do is bring the saving on to you! i have many customers and accounts that push UGR to the fullest and have not had a complaint yet. the performance is there and it's at the price everyone is looking for,and if anyone needs anything let me know and i'll hook you up. good day gentleman. Erik.

I am an idealist in that way, and before you say anything i dont run ANY copied shii on my car. For example i liked how the new mugen shift **** so instead of buying a cheap copy off eBAY i forked up 90 bux for the real thing. However, this situation is even more extreme, skunk2, JUN, Toda etc. all spend thousands of dollars on R&D and then someone comes in and just copies it and makes a profit. This, to me seems very wrong, and my problem is that the only people i can really blame are the original cam companys for not getting some patents. nevertheless, what these copycats are doing is wrong. NOW what i really wanted to say is that Honda-Tech is full of idealists, such as myself who believe that stealing, copying, and making a profit off someone elses work is wrong, yet other than a select few everyone here wants to know how these cams'll do. I personally dont give a flying expletive if these cams do just as well as the originals, in fact that would upset me even more. This is stealing and stealing is wrong, that is the bottom line.
everyone that profits off other peoples work </TD></TR></TABLE>
then how do you feel about mugen, spoon, toda and jun products products being ridiculously overpriced? is that justified?
youve got a company like spoon selling parts that are basically just oem type r stuff for OUTRAGEOUS prices yet no one bashes them. instead they bash smaller ocmpanies who are just starting out like omni, UGR and what not. i had this conversation with someone over a beer one night.. and that someone is a person whom you ALL swing from his nuts. so although i dont agree with copies 100% i surely dont agree with overpriced bullshit in which i am only paying for the name (ie spoon mugen) bottom line is im sort of an idealist but making good power comes first..... cuz buddy, when someone flies by your *** they arent saying "damn bro those were real toda/jun/spoon cams!" they are sayin "shoulda put more moneyto beter use under his hood"

First let me say this. I will not down on Rocket Motorsports one bit. I think they make absolutely great parts with proven results. But I also have to look at it this way, he didn't just come up with random numbers for lift and duration of his cams. He started out by taking what he knew worked, from other companies before him, and expanding with his own ideas and now produces great one off products.
Copying other companies products, for the consumer minded, is wrong. I agree.
Copying other companies products, for the business minded, is extremely beneficial. You take what you know works, there for cutting costs by not having to invest in R&D, sell it at an extremely low price and maximizing your profit. I agree with this too. Morally wrong....perhaps. Illegal....nope. It's called business.
Also be sure to read the paragraph on the first page of the UGR site. It states "At Underground Racing, we buy parts directly from trading companies that supply well-known Japanese and American based aftermarket performance part companies." They aren't actually producing anything they buy them from trading companies. There for you are pointing the finger at the wrong person. UGR hasn't copied anyones work.

Well true you never declined, but you never answered me back either(I just took that to mean you had no interest). Since I am obviously wrong I'll be seeing you in a month or two when I get spare $ for parts again. I don't think too many people are trying to hate on you but, I still have yet to see a dyno graph of your cams. (Maybe I'll be the first, because I'm definatley interested.)

Re: (aeon)
Finally got an update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well just got a call from the machine shop. I had a broken inner valve spring (my fault!)
Soo.. right now I am getting the head resurfaced, and getting a 5 angle valve job and seeking and REV inner exhaust spring. As soon as i find one i will be good to go!!!!
OH and on a side note i asked him how the titanium REV retainers looked after 12000 miles and he said they were in great shape! (since some ti retainers suck, but this shows that REV and other snap fit retainers don't seem to have the same wear characteristics.)
Soon enough the JUN III clones will be up and running.
