ITR intake manifold or Skunk2 IM?

ITR intake manifold or Skunk2 IM?
I got a 92' EG with a 1997 type r engine. The engine has a skunk 2 header and the vtec was setup to go on at 5200rpms with a apexi controller. I just bought a pro skunk 2 intake manifold and also a Snunk 2 throttle body. Will I notice any improvement?

The Skunk2 throttle bodies are problematic to be honest. The Professional Products ones are much, much better made. If your engine is stock, honestly the stock manifold is fine.

+1 i would keep the stock type r intake manifold cause there pretty much similar design, only way to tell is do back to back testing on dyno, and back to back testing of tb as well. and also have tuning done on both intakes and throttle bodies.

I swapped out a professional products one for an alpha because it has a fine adjustment screw that the others don't.
Snappier response for the larger TB, and Pro1 works quite well.. I consider it a good upgrade

The Alpha series is fine and has never exhibited any issues. It's the billet ones that have issues.

As for the OP, first thing-ditch the Apexi VAFC and sell it and the Skunk2 manifold. For the best results before you make any changes, take that money & find a local tuner that can take care of getting the car tuned for real. Then decide with the tuner which tuning route you want to go/can afford. (Hondata, Neptune, Crome/ECTune etc) ANY and ALL of these will be worlds better than a piggyback fuel controller like the Apexi. For a stock internal B18C, the ITR manifold is totally adequate for airflow purposes. Since you have a header, the next biggest gain on an all motor B series is going to be a real tune hands down. I have seen gains of 12-15 HP and 8-10 TQ peak and 10-20 HP and 10-12 TQ in the midrange on 100% internally stock B series with just Bolt ons after getting a real tune vs running on a stock ECU or basemap. If you want to use the Skunk2 manifold for bling/dress up factor, that's fine. You won't lose any power over a P73 manifold when properly tuned, but with stock compression/cans/etc you won't really see gains with the Skunk2 over the P73 manifold either, that's why I said sell it. Good luck!
