High comp. headgasket install recommendations
Hey guys,
I picked up a Buddy Club .5mm headgasket and some ARP head studs for my GSR daily to test out before building my GSR race motor.
I've installed more than a dozen OEM HG's on Honda engines with OEM headbolts, this will be my first attempt at something different and I'm wondering if there will be anything different I need to look out for in the installation. I will torque the studs per ARP's specs, but the head gasket didn't come with any instructions and my inquiry is as follows:
During my searching, I noticed people mentioning the use of copper gasket spray. I've never used this in OEM applications and have never had a leak. Plus it seemed that the recommendations of copper spray were about 50/50. So, do I NEED this for the high comp HG install, or is it a recommendation? For instance, Cometic recommends AGAINST using copper spray because of their construction, but Buddy Club didn't mention anything. If I do need it, is there a specific application technique, or do I spray one, even coat?
Thanks,
Dave

Re: High comp. headgasket install recommendations
its a straight forward swap. just follow the manual. you will be fine. i normally like to trim down the dowels a little cause you never know when they bottom out against the block and head and keep the head gasket from sealing properly.
