Default Cometic Head Gasket Install Problems

Anyone have problems installing them?? I searched but came up with nothing. when i went to install my head gasket. I went to sldei it voer the dowels on the bottom of the ehad. they dont' fit!! WTF? when I sldei one side over the dowel. the other dowel is like 1-2MM off. I had to really pull at it and be careful not to wreck the gasket.. ocne I got it over the dowels. i had to ltierally take a socket jsut larger thent he dowel and press down on the gasket to finally go all the way on.. I'm worried this is jsut gonig to cause a leak now cause it was REALYL hard to get on and where it streteches around the dowel, it is slightly very slightly rasied. I was going to install it all once I put the ehad on but realzied I didn't ahve the poper 12 point socket for the ARP bolts. I'm contempalting ordering another cometic or jsut gonig OEM... and yes it was the right gasket.

They are hit and miss with the Cometics, definately not OEM fit! I have had some fit perfect and otehrs the same at the dowel pins are really tight and seemed not to fit, BUT I have always got them to fit and have had no probs ever with them after that.

Hrmm.. thankyou for your reply. I'm just a bit worried.. mgiht try another one or go OEM...

This one was a .043 mill thick and 82 bore.. was using in on my temporary motor. stock b16. it would drop my compression to 9.8. Do you know if B18C1 head gaskets are the same?

I have also had the same experience with this gasket, altough it wasn't the dowel pins not lining up properly instead it was the cylinder bore not lining up correctly with the head gasket bore.

Id get a HKS headgasket before i got a cometic. Ive heard too many problems with it. GE (golden eagle) sells overbored stock honda headgaskets FYI.

I have HKS headgasket and im really happy with it. At least it looks pretty in the bag. haha I would of used a honda gasket but honda doent make a metal ZC headgasket. lame
