Will Type-R Muffler fit GSR 4d? more flow, low noise?
I have a 97 GSR 4D sedan, I am trying to free up the exhaust a little without killing me with highway droning, these things turn such high rpm on the hwy almost any aftermarket exhaust drones on the hwy. I was wondering if a type R muffler fits on a 97 gsr? If nothing else I like the look of the tip better, hehe. Any suggestions on freeing it up without to much added noise?

Yeah, stock stuff but I own 3 honda/ac's all with exhaust and have owned a bunch over the years, so I'm familiar with the noise, hehe. But yeah I need a little more flow, I am looking for a quality hi flow cat that is direct fit but it appears that carsound dosnt make it, so id be stuck with fabbing it up.

I think that magnaflow and ramdom technology offer hi flow cats for integras, not positive though. Also the type r muffler might flow a bit better but you would have to go to a muffler shop to lengthen the axle back to fit properly. From some of the posts I've read the type r exhaust has good components but the piping has quite a few bottle necks from the cat back. You can have your own piping fabbed up but use the muffler and resonator to keep the noise down.

Depends on the condition of the cat, but yeah theres not really much in the way of reliable methods to avoid a code p0420 with a gutted cat.

Get the Apexi WS2 catback. I just installed it on my 4DR GSR. I actually wouldn't mind it being a bit louder. Gives the car a deeper tone and probably flows better than an OEM muffler. I have no real flow analysis to offer you, just their marketing. Extremely well made exhaust and not loud. Car should have come with this muffler from the factory.

What would you equate it's loudness to, as in is there ...a stock car that sounds about the same? thanks

the WS2 is louder than any stock cars that I could think of, however it is on the quieter side of the aftermarket exhausts. If you are curious to how it sounds do a youtube search for "apexi WS2" i would send you a link but i am at work and cannot view youtube.com due to the firewall proxy

i have the apex ws...
however, correct me if im wrong but the gsr and type r have the same muffler but on one the tip is welded and the midpipe is like 2 1/4 i believe.

Its been a couple of days since I put the exhaust on and it has grown a little bit louder. Still quiet IMO. I haven't done a side by side comparison, but to give you a better idea I think the stock mustang GTs and Infinity VQ powered cars have a louder stock exhaust than the apexi WS2. Or maybe it is on par with them. Hard to say.
