pros/cons to removing this thing?

are you talking about the resonator between the cat and the muffler, or a resonator tip?

In either case I wouldn't remove it but if it's between the cat and muffler I wouldn't touch it... because of local ordinances and such

yea and the RASPY noise is kinda anoyying. i mean the DEEP muffler tone is nice but the RASPY waaaaahh waaaaahhh eh..lol. unless its really loud and ur going really fast at the same time i'd call u a RICER!
