Default tips on removing a stubborn cv axle?

I have a torn outer boot on my passenger cv axle and I have everything apart already but I haven't been able to get the inner joint to pop out of the transaxle. I've been prying as hard and quickly as I can, tried hammering on my prybar and I still haven't been able to get the joint to pop out. Tried rotating the joint to different positions, pushing in and out and still no go. Any tips/tricks on getting a stubborn inner joint to pop out without damaging it? The axle is still good and oem so I'd like to reuse it.

Sounds like you've tried most of the tricks. Try threading the axle nut back onto the end until it's flush so you can protect the threads, the hit the axle with a big hammer, like a 3lb sledge, as if you're trying to install the axle. It may loosen it up. Continue to rotate the axle to different positions and pry on it. Lifting the car higher so you can use a longer pry bar may help.

I never had an issue with this. Done this so many times with plenty of different cars. Here's how I do it..
I usually make sure its in nuetral, then I use a pry bar and pry it from the top. I usually give it a really quick hard yank! Should POP off with in a few hard yanked.

Hope this helps.

Pry evenly from both sides. So, if you have your pry bar in the bottom, put another in the top. If you dont pull it straight out, it just wedges in there tightly. Ive had a fair amount of issues in the past, sometimes you need to start with a small screwdriver and hammer it in before moving to the big tools.

Wedge the prybar between diff housing and joint, using blocks of wood or whatever to hold it there. Now give the handle of the prybar a hard, solid kick with your heel. Guaranteed to work. Put a hand in front of the outer joint to make sure the freed shaft doesn't launch itself into your chest!

If it STILL won't come loose, remove the OTHER driveshaft, center the set-ring for the affected shaft through the diff housing, then try again.
