Raise b18b1 redline
so guys, I am doing a little project before I go to college, a fun turbo build, here is what I am doing,
eagle rods with arp rod bolts
wiseco pistons with 81.5mm bore and 9.3:1 ratio
stock sleeves
kings rod and main journal bearings
arp head studs
then a nice turbo kit and looking for around 325whp-350whp
and I already have a b16 tranny with yonaka stage 3 clutch and act streetlite flywheel
what I want to know now is can I build the head with all brian crower parts and a stage 2 turbo cam, would it be safe to rev up to 8k rpms?
with a build head of course

Re: Raise b18b1 redline
8000..probably but with the rocker arm design i personally wouldnt go over that and would feel more comfortable with like 7500-7800.
dont get a turbo cam if you want cams i'd say to go with the 403's.
if you are going to rev over 7500 you need to use a 22 tooth vtec water pump.
final parting words: you are going to hate having a straight b16 transmission over time. it will feel like it runs out of gearing especially up top. if possible i would recommend a gsr trans or at least a gsr 4th and 5th on the b16 1st thru 3rd gear

I was going to do a ls/vtec at first but then the head I wanted got sold so I decided a turbo build would be fun too, im trying to make it last a few years so I can get through college and maybe build the motor into a track monster!

valve springs and retainers are cheap and extra insurance, if you're upgrading cams they're almost a must. yes I wouldn't push a stock ls head past 7.5K on a daily basis or even at all.
