b16 compression test should read...?
looking to buy a 90 teg with a stock b16 out of a 99 si...
its not running at the moment, but i want to make sure its not blown so i plan to check the compression.
how many psi should it read?
i figure somewhere from 150-200 but id like to get a more exact number.
NOT looking for compression ratio//

Consistency is more important. You want the lowest cylinder to be no less than 85% or 90% of the highest cylinder, although only a couple psi difference is best. Values between 150-250 could probably be considered normal if the consistency is high.

Re: b16 compression test should read...?
i would say around 200 psi for a strong running motor.. i had 225 on every cylinder in my boosted jdm b18c. but as long as none are under 140-150 your good

wow my honda is at 100 psi across the board. Oil on my spark plugs on # 2 and # 3. Can anyone tell me the best pistons to get? Probably going to boost it this fall/winter.

Re: b16 compression test should read...?
it depends on how you do the compression test. if o rings have expanded and the engine was recently running the o rings should have expanded howerver if the engine is cold like in your case number might be lower considering the o rings have not expanded since the engine has not been running long enough for the rings to fully expand.
