JRSC ITR!! CRAPPY DYNO TIMES!!!! HELP!
ok...i am going to post this in this forum and the FI forum.
heres the issue:
installed JRSC, JR fuel pump, JR fuel reg, JR spark plugs, AEM short ram, JR map controller
dyno tuned this piece of **** last night
results.... 190.7 whp at 5.5psi
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
with all the money i have spent, that is crap!
looked on JR's website, says they got 215WHP on a stock ITR with a JRSC and same mods as me, minus the MAP controller....
wtf is the deal? JR a bunch of scum bag liars? something im missing?
so confused right now

damn yo

did you tune it at all?? not all bolt on kits are gonna work the same on all motors. its pretty pointless to buy something like that anyway if you arent gonna tune it with something to get the most from it.
Double check EVERYTHING !! I had a similar problem.. my almost stock R was putting down low 160's to high 150's on the dyno ... I checked the engine and found that my head gasket was blown .. Fixed the problem and added few extras and now we are at 190.1whp

seems about right. mine with the stock kit and hondata was at 197 whp. but the torque curve is NICE and FAT and FLAT!! jrsc is not about peak power, it provides instant torque. anytime, anywhere. 190 with minimal tuning is in the right neighborhood for stock kit. make sure the torque curve is flat and that the A/F is smooth as well. the car should be plenty quick ...
I got one of the first kits available, had it installed by Moss Motors and it went from 165 to a pathetic 180 something. Moss was apologetic and told me that was normal for the kit and that Jackson's 215whp car had many modifications including a prototype water injection kit. My car detonated badly even with 2 cans of octane booster in normal to hot weather. My experience with Jackson Racing is summed up by misleading advertising and zero customer service.
I should have done more research before I bought as I found out later that JR is well known for this bullshit....
I ended up selling the kit and putting the car back to stock, but now that other owners have figured out how to get good power (240+) out of them by tuning correctly, I would hang on to it and get a good shop (e.g. DSR) to tune it. There are also a few guys on this board who have sorted out their JRSC's and are very happy with them.

Very, very true. I was also one of the first jrsc itr owners, and JR's customer support was very poor. The 172whp I got after initial installation was a far cry from the 210whp or so they advertised. It took a lot of dyno time and years of interaction with other jrsc owners, mainly on hostboard, to make the power. Without question, my breakthrough for power and reliability was ditching all of JR's black box band-aids and going with hondata.

190whp isn't that bad...I've seen far worse. Send an IM to Rboosted717, he has over 100 dyno runs on a Type-R with the Jackson SC. There are a lot of supporting items that need to be installed before you can get the power levels that you're looking for.
