Default where to mount my EGT probe?

as the title says.... before the turbo? after the turbo? downpipe or manifold? Ive heard people say that my EGT probe could break off and **** up my turbo if i put it before and apparently the readings are useless when putting it after the turbo? what you guys reckon...The EGT probe and gauge is made by "trust" if that helps
thanks

I've got mine in the #3 runner on mani. You get a more accurate reading and I've never heard of a probe breaking off before.

The question is, do you trust your "trust" guage and accessories?

If the sensor isnt a complete waste of money, then I cant immagine it breaking off unless its installed incorrectly. The EGT guage is used to give you an idea of what the temperatures are inside the combustion chamers, inorder for this to happen, it needs to be placed AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE to the combustion chamber.

Cylinder #3 is usually argued to be the hottest because of block design and coolant flow so runner #3 is usually the best spot for your EGT sensor.

thanks for the replies guys. I have the HF manifold also so i may do this, but im guessing i need a reducer of some sort something like a 1/2inch male NPT to 1/4 female? in order to fit the probe in place of where an o2 sensor used to go?

If you're going to use the O2 fitting to mount your EGT probe then you'll need a M18 X 1.5 bolt drilled out to the size of you're EGT probe fitting.

Im using the AEM egt probe and it comes with a weld in bung.. I had a local shop drill out the o2 sensor hole and weld in the bung..
