Lightweight battery Q/comparison
Q's for ppl that know something about these batteries.
I'm looking at these 3 batteries,
the NRGcell from heeltoeauto
the braille from here https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1
and this noname(maybe hawker?) from here http://surplusev.com/
first question,
are these two the same thing with just different badging??
nrgcell:
noname/hawker:
also is the braille superior to both?
and is that noname/hawker really 11.5lbs, or is it 14lbs like the braille post claims(it claims the hawker is 14lbs an that the braille is 11.5lbs and the lightest).
thanks a bunches!

the hawker is not 14 lbs, its about 12. when ups shipped it they had the weight on the package as 12lbs.
Tracking Number: -
Service Type: GROUND
Weight: 12.00 Lbs
so that braille post is incorrect.

I'd say go with the Hawker. The 1 or 2 lbs. difference isn't going to mean anything in terms of weight reduction. Plus, HellToe is a fairly expensive site so maybe that battery is just a replica. IMO.

mine was 30.4 lbs

dunno about nhra,
but I ended up purchasing the hawker battery from surplusev.com
I put it on my scale(it's just a bathroom scale, but it is digital..) it read 11lbs.
also for having such lowbudget site, the guy from surplusev is really great.
I give him an A++ for service.
oh and that nrgcell looks IDENTICAL to the surplusev, except for the nrgcell label.

heeltoe and the hawker from suplus are the same. I've been using the hawker since may with no problems
You can barely see it in the pic, but it's there.

Sounds good, only 55k miles on my OEM battery but it's gone.. cracked radiator on my turbo d16 heated it up and ruined it quicker than expected. Guess I'll be ordering one of these tonight
There was in an depth article online about the hawker/odyssey battery and it's many knockoffs, but I lost that link sadly with all my links when my HD took a **** a few months ago. But basically, it proved that they're all the same battery with the same specs, just rebadged and marked up. Maybe you should search for it.
Buy the cheapest version of it you can find. I got mine from http://www.PortablePower.com about a year ago. Weighs just under 12lbs, less than half the stock EG battery weight. That's a greater weight loss than your standard CF hood. Holds up extremely well. The voltage is higher than normal water type batteries. I put it to extreme use delivering pizza (lots of cranking and short trips) in San Diego hot summer temps.

Curious bout these smaller batteries. i want one. But i was wondering can they handle a medium sized amp running some main speakers. Nothing like a bass amp that needs heavy voltage. And i dont plan to run the system with the car off. So could i still use one of these batteries??

i'm sure you could,
basically, these dont have quite as much amps for starting in severely cold weather,
but still plenty to start the car,
once the car is going there is plenty of juice flowin to keep your electrical stuff running fine. Only time i'd worry is if I had some SERIOUS stereo equipment,
and if you had that ****, why would you want a lightweight battery?!?? your car would be weighed down passed the point of caring anyways.

ok coo. then yea it should work. i doubt i would play my music with the car off, and im just running a small amp to hide somewhere and run the main speakers. Are these batteries sealed?? meaning i can install them in the car with no problem??
