Default Ok this is becomming a problem...

That damn code 13 (BARO sensor) keeps comming back. Between last week and weekend, I must have gotten a code 13 at least 5 times. I'd keep resetting the ECU, and in a short time it'll come back out of nowhere. Anybody else had an expereince with this because I can't imagine what would be causing this other than a faulty ECU/Baro sensor. BTW, this seems to have started after I installed my 440's, so I'm wondering if this has something to do with the V-AFC trim?

i'm not sure you can run 440's without standalone, biggest ive heard people using is 370cc.. the problem is that the v-afc only works under open loop (WOT basicly) normally injectors that are too large leave you with a 45 or something else though..

you must be boostin around 11 or more PSI, the ECU is seeing more than a bar of positive manifold pressure, you may need a check valve to bleed off excess pressure to the map. 13 usually means the value is outside of measurable range.

Nah I'm only boosting 7-8psi, even the spikes on the AVC-R never exceed .63bar or about 9.5psi, but the thing is, it'll set off the CEL even when i'm not boosting, just out of nowehre. It's not the injectors either per-se because I'm not getting any code 45's since I've gotten it dialed-in, just this stupid code 13.

If your VAFC is tuned positive (+xx%) at ANY point on the map you stand a chance of throwing a map CEL on a turbocharged car.

It is most likely a bad ecu, Since the baro sensor has nothing to do with any external wiring or sensors. If this is on your civic a replacement ecu will only set you back a few bucks (lots of em on partstrader) or maybe you can swap ecus with a friend and see what happens in a few days.

Actually the map (baro) sensor has EVERYTHING to do with adding a VAFC since the VAFC modifies the voltage reaching the ECU from the sensor itself.

Ok let's establish something. Is the Barometric sensor actually the MAP sensor? I don't think so since there are seperate codes singaling out either a problem with the MAP (codes 3 and 5) and a seperate code for the Barometric sensor (code 13). We all know that the AFC manipluates the MAP's readings, but does that affect the Baro. sensor readings inside the ECU? I'm not using any kind of positive enricnment on the V-AFC, everything is -, from -45% at idle to -20% under full boost at WOT, so it's not a MAP issue. Besides, like I said it's a code 13, not a 3 or a 5 like I had gotten before from using a positive trim on the AFC b4 my 440's came in. I think I'll look for somebody with an EX to trade ECU's with me for a little while and see if it's just my ECU w/ the problem or if it's something else. Any other idea?

One other question, does anybody know off hand will a 99 EX ECU plug right into my harness? My friend at work here as a 99 EX, but I remember reading of some differences between 96-98 ECU's and 99+ ECU's from people trying to wire up GReddy FMC's to their Civic's.

The baro sensor has nothing to do with the map sensor. Its a internal part of the ecu and when it craps out the only way to fix it is to get a new ecu. You may also want to ask on hybridforum.com I'm sure those guys will have an answer for you.

So would a missing link/check valves remedy this?

Yes it will, but you'll need to make some changes. Look in the Helms, it holds all the wiring pinouts.

Did you make that up or pull it out of your butt? Just kidding, but seriously, that's incorrect. The easiest way is to start your car, and let it run as you lean it out all the way. The car will die, and it was idling, not at WOT.

No it's not the plugs, it's an ECU problem.. just trying to pinpoint any possible soulutuions.

I have to agree now that your ECU must be pooched, try out somebody's else's.
Just making sure - you guys arent welding on your cars with the ECU attached. I ask because I really have never heard of an ecu getting pooched, maybe the AVC is sending weirded out signals? try finding another gorund - I dont know what I am talking about anymore.....you want to hear about a new gravitational theory on flying...flying is the art of throwing yourself at the ground............and missing.
