it definately depends on what rpm vtec kicks in on stock motors, you dont wanna turn it down too far cuz ur car will buck forward for a second and then throw you back when ur gettin on it.......cuz what it does is open the vtec valves too early and doesnt make power, then when it gets back in rpm's, it kicks in

the DOHC i believe (?) have a fixed engagement point, unlike your SOHC. On my DOHC, vtec seems to engage around 4500, just to give you an idea (yours is probably close)

I had a VAFC on my Accord. It does not bring me significiant hp increase and since I havent take the car to dyno tune so basically it was sitting there for nothing.

If might be useful if you take the VAFC to dyno tune and get a better fuel/air mixture and max out your mods

Not sure about the SOHC VTEC though I believe they kick in like 2500~3000rpm. Not like the DOHC one they kick in 5500rpm

imo its a pointless mod without getting it dyno tuned. but if you are going to tune it, its a good investment. better than most mods

i asked this question several weeks ago, correct me if im wrong but i was told that for a 6th gen f23a4 the vtec engages at around 3750. Maybe that's different for the non-ulev f23a1 but i doubt it. Whatever u do, good luck

F23a1 engages at different rpm like a smart vtec. When you put the vafc on it you will gain power if you have it dynoed tuned but no matter what you will lose power around the 5000 to 5500 rpm range even tuned correctly!

vtec on f23 motors engages anywhere between 2300-3800 rpms, depending on many factors which I believe include oil pressure, load, and intake manifold pressure. (not completely sure on the factors though)
