hey, I have a b18c1 engine ...planing on running 12-15 psi and hopefully make 350whp. Anyway, I upgraded internals to: Eagle H Beam Rods, JE 9:1 81mm pistons, and ARP Headstuds. Now my only problem is should I install a blockguard or not? I have the blockguard already but theres only 1 shop locally here that hones cylinders and I jsut called them and they won't be able to have it done for another week because they are extremely busy. I can't wait another week,...my cars been in the shop for ages already. Will I be safe without a blockguard ? do i actually have to rehone my cylinder walls once installing a blockguard? :s
I would never use a block guard. Try searching, there are lots of post about them. Just make sure your car is tuned well and you should be fine. If you get to a point where your worried about the sleeves then sleeve the block.
I talked to Larry @ endyne and he said that you need to have the cylinders honed and you need a deckplate to simulate the head being on the block as well as having everything up to normal operating engine temps for it to be properly installed.

or you can just install the blockguard and have the machine shop bore it... i installed mine... banged it in... had it bored and honed... cylinders are all perfect;y round now... little word of advice install the bg below the deck surface... i did 3/8" with my ge blockguard as per golden eagle... this ensures no overheating...

Yes you should be fine. I am planning on running around 15 psi (300whp goal) on my d16z6 with just rods/pistons and good tuning.
