idle problems...weird!
Ok there is toomany problems in my other thread about my h23vtec. So here is another one.
For some reason when I put the clutch in while moving the engine will rev on its own up to 3500rpms and stay there till I come to a COMPLETE stop. As soon as I stop moving completly the engine idles itself down to a nice 800rpms. This **** is weird as hell. I have never heard of such a problem before...TPS maybe??????
Note: This slowly started to happen after I changed my vss and fpr yesterday, and yeah the fuel pressure is right on the money

i be that has to do with the fack that your vss is fucked up, you have to remember there is idle speed while sitting still and idle while moving.. the ecu is probably mad confused.
oh i didn't see that, you have a new vss?
is the car throwing an codes? you have to remeber too that with all the mods you are runing the car isn't going to be perfect off the get go until its tuned, yes you ave to work out to small stuff .
so the 2 major issues right now
are the idle problem
and the smoking problem .. right?

and does it smoke constantly? or only on startup or un accel?

Yeah new VSS! The motor is not throwing any codes anymore after the vss swap.
I know stuff isnt gonna be right but the smoke thing and cumsuming 1qt of oil in 400 miles is really scaring me.

The smoke thing only happends when the engine is under acceleration. at idle it barley smokes if any at all. Under acceleration it starts to smoke and if I give it any more than 75% throttle it will smoke out the person behind me really bad!
My roomate was behind me yesterday and I gave it like 75% throttle and reved to 4000 and he couldnt see anymore it filled his truck up with smoke! It looks blue (indicating oil) and smells really bad due to the lack of no cat.
By the way I really apreciate your help!

hmm i don't have much more to say about the smoke, until you can do a leak down..
but the idle thing is wha has me stumped, i have NEVER heard of a car doing that.

but the thing that makes a cars idle go up is AIR. .. hmm check all your vacume hoeses .. i mean i know this is a stab in the dark but there could be a vacume source that is not active under idle , but as soon as you cruising it tries to add vacume to that device but instead gets AIR, check your vacume lines including your EVAP system

Yeah at a regular idle I canr rev it all I want with no problems. And Iwent through all my vaccum lines and checked them and made sure they were connected to the right place.
The thing that stumps me is it didnt do it till yesterday. I have beed driving it for a week now. I reall am think its a shitty tps because I remember the connections being a fubar when putting in the new motor

well for the idle to surge like that you have to be getting air in from somewhere, even if the ecu was just dumping a **** load of fuel that might raise the idle a little but it would be so rich it would smoke liek crazy,
something is letting air in, i would check all your vacume lines , check the IACV, and check that there are no leaks near or around your TB

Its the TPS! I just unplugged the tps and took it for a drive and thats theproblem it solved it! So Now I need to find a cheep place to get a tps from!
It was just a nice smooth steady rev to 3500rpms and then go down to a smooth idle when I stopped. That is bay far the craziest thing I have ever seen on a car!
Oh and how the hell an I gonna get the tps off of the t-body? It has some really weird bolts or whatever the hell they are on it.

i didn't know you could drive the car with the tps disconnected, learn somthing new everyday. if your using 1qt of oil every 400 miles it is either the pcv or the oil rings.
Yeah the car runs with it dissconected but its RICH REALLY RICH and the ecu is completly confused. I wonder if it will go into limp mode?
That would be funny if it was my new pcv. Iwillhave to try that too just to make sure. I'll test it tomorrow
