Default intial mods?

hey ive got a 92 prelude si, and all ive done so far is drop it a little with neuspeed sports. ive only got around 500$, and i was wondering what mods the h23 would respond to best for that price. this is what im thinkin
-header+intake
or
-kteller exhaust+intake
or
-kteller exhaust+pullies

anyother opinions or suggestions would be apreciated...thanks

you should probly do a search.....

but, i would recomend:

intake- ebay pipe+good filter will do
header- dont get anything less than a dc
exhaust
pullies

and after all that then you could move to some head work and you will see nice gains

good luck...welcome to the h23

yeah dogg the DC header is the ****

if you're gonna buy a header, SMSP is the way to go...... but that will kill all 500 of your dollars in one shot

Pulleys are for looks, DC Sports is alse you need with that amount of $, i went DC until some headers free up for my ride, all on backorder. Dont cheap out on the intake if you plan on really tweakin this car... go name brands if you can, and definatly do header first!

save the money for a good header. dc is **** and not worth wasting the 300 bucks or how ever much that **** is. its junk go intake and a good exhaust with some custom piping, maybe high-flow cat if u are feelin it, and ur off to a decent start. most important, save save save!! you are gonna need lots of money to have fun! lol

i don't know if you're kidding...

but AEM vs ebay intake, other than the carb sticker: what's the difference? 3" pipe with filter attached to end, there isn't much technology in that.

pulleys actually dyno decent gains considering the price. more than DC headers do...

ideally you'd want to do I/H/E all at the same time to get the max gains.

I searched ebay and came up with this, those mods are good for about 5-10 hp

$40 Cold Air intake
$200 Used header
$100 used AEM pulleys
$160 used Cat back exhaust

If I was in your shoes and only had $500 to spend, I would check Ebay out and look for good contention aftermarket parts, and check H-T classifieds and also look for people who are parting out there cars on here. Ive seen some good parts go for cheap. and also sell/trade your stock parts which you are upgrading.

^^^ check out that link. the topic is import tuner magazine modifying a h23 w/ i/h/e.

^^^check out the mods i did to my h23 lude.

one more thing, DC is not worth buying for a h22, that is a fact. but for a h23, it makes gains over stock and, more importantly, i have seen two dyno plots that show the header moving the peak hp to over 6000 rpm. so a dc header lies in the future for me .

pulleys aren't that great for gains, maybe a few HP, and they can be harmful to your car in certain areas (alternator and crank) if not installed or balanced properly. I wouldn't get pulleys, not worth the money. If you have money to spend on pulleys, which is roughly around what, 120 bucks or so? then save up the extra 120 bucks and get a flywheel, do something that's really worth it.

Spend the $500 on some good tires if you don't already have some. Best thing you can do to any car, no doubt about it.

dc header, skunk 2 cat back and aem c.a.i. is good for 19 horses...dyno proved by import tunner on an automatic h23 with 240,000....now if you have 5 speed you should deff be getting a little more...get all 3 parts listed above and a short shifter adapter...you'll love it...btw ebay is your best friend....trust me
