Default DIY/How to: Del Sol Seats into an EK

Well, I've heard lots of rumors and whatnot about what you need to do to get the Sols into an EK, so I picked some up and did it.

First of all you need to pull your EK seats out of your car. It's 4 bolts and a connector (once you have the seatbelt connector out, don't turn the car on, or your SRS light will come on!)

After the seats are out, start breaking the seats down. You need to remove the covers over the brackets. Once you have that off, you need to remove the reclining handles and then start removing the brackets from the seats.

I suggest doing these one seat at a time, as to not get the sliders/rails confused with each other.

These are what you need to remove (these are from the Sol Seats):

This is what your stock EK seats should be left as (forgive the indention in it, they've been sitting in a box since I swapped them out):

And then put the EK rails/sliders onto the Del Sol seats. They bolt right up using all of the original hardware.

Once you have a seat/bracket assembly put back together go put it back into the car and end up with this:

These are the absolute BEST seats I've ever sat in. I would own these over a Sparco or Recaro seat any day. Best part is, they're cheap!

nice write up , i have them in my EK too... love them, actually if i'm not mistaken, i'm 90% sure they are manu'ed by recaro. only thing i see left out is how ppl are going to complain about the bolts not lining up just right. i fixed this by starting all the bolts through the rails and into the floor board, then tightened them down in this order;

FRONT OUTSIDE, FRONT INSDIE, REAR OUTSIDE, REAR INSIDE.

I didn't think these are made by recaro (didn't see any Recaro marking on the foam or anything.)

I know some of the older Rex seats WERE made my Recaro, but if somebody can prove to me that these were that'd be cool. And I just started all of the bolts before I tightened them down and they're all in.

Nah you just got sol seats out of a black 92-95 sol......96-97 sols have no stripe and are made with a different upholstery

Did sols ever come in tan interior?
If not, what would any sol seats go with that color?

I don't follow you.

The colors I have seen so I know they come in are
No stripe
grey stripe
teal stripe
red stripe.

There may be more, but those in my car are grey. Just a little dirty.

ahh, i am bound to **** up on explaining something... the only difference i noticed when swapping the seats was that my original seats w/ the red stripe, had a thinner, more silky material, where as my seats w/ the gray stripe has thicker material and more of a elevated burr burr feel... if that makes any sense.

So they're all dark grey/black. Damnit. I hate my tan interior.

yeah the red, green, and blue stripe ones feel like you are sitting on a cotton t shirt while the grey and no stripe ones feel like you are sitting on corduroy whales, much more grippy

The seats come in the following colors:
Grey Stripe
Bright Green Stripe
Teal Green Stripe
Blue Stripe
Red Stripe

the 96-97 all a all black style pattern with thicker material. Only the all black and grey stripe style seat have the thicker material. the rest of the colored stripes have a thinner material.
