I have a JDM motor so my distributor has an internal coil. I want to put an ignition system on it with an external coil. I haven't found any modified caps for Preludes...go figure. I heard that there is a way to convert my internal coil to external. Sometimes about just drilling a hoole into my cap and attaching another terminal. Anyone done an internal to external conversion? Anyone have any info?

drill a hole on the bottom of the cap, soder the wires to make them longer then run them to the external coil, seal the cap, presto

 

would you need a usdm lude cap though ?

Note that this is for use with the USDM engine harness. This will not work with the JDM engine harness.

You use a USDM H22 distributor cap and rotor after the conversion. I did this on a JDM H22 install I did on a 1992 Prelude S model. It worked perfectly.

Yeah, I heard about the drilling the hole part. But it calledfor adding a terminal instead of extending the wires. Got a link?
