i just want to know how would i got about shipping and engine? what kinda box or what do i put the block and head in? if anyone has done this or seen anyone do this help me out with tips and just how to send this engine out ..any help will..ya help..Thanks
well, when i did mine. I shipped the head and block separately. I was able to find a perfect sized box, then i cut a piece of wood to put in the bottom of the box, then on top of that i put some of that pink Styrofoam insulation on top of the wood and secured the block/head to it. Then i packed the rest of the box with the insulation crap. It worked out good.
Greyhound Express. They have the cheapest rates.
Just call up the local greyhound station and ask them any questions you have. Do a search, there is a lot of shipping info that has been discussed in the past.

If the block and head are bolted together I'd just go to the sears loading dock or something and get an oak pallette and some cheap nylon tie-downs from Lowes. Wrap the engine with big trashbags and duct tape. Put the engine on the pallete nail some 2x4's to the pallete to hold the base. Place the tie-downs over the engine and then cinch it down. As long as the freight company keeps the pallete upright then you'll have no problems. and if the other guy is paying for the shipping then he can afford some luxuries to get his engine to him nice and safe.
If the head and block are dismantled find an old towel and wrap the head in it and then trashbag the block and head then duct tape the head to the block then strap them down to the pallette. not too hard but an engine is heavy so use a freight company like Forward Air. They're also cheap. good luck

i would email a company that builds up motors and ask them how they package the parts, I know when i had my head done dpr just used a thick cardboard box with paper wrapped around the items and bubblewrap.. but the block is much heavier
